Oxford Aviation Academy offers Differences Training courses that allow a pilot to be qualified to operate different variants of the same type of aircraft. The Differences Training courses cover all of the required theoretical knowledge and include the use of flight training devices or Full Flight Simulators as appropriate.
To be approved to operate variants of the same aircraft type for which JAR-FCL requires difference training.
A typical course comprises a technical ground course using CBT self-study and/or classroom tuition, followed by practical training on a simulator including comprehensive briefing and de-briefing. Note that the courses structure differ depending on TRTO certificate approval.
The trainee shall hold a valid Type Rating on the aircraft type that the trainee shall receive difference training from. If the rating is not valid, the difference training must at least be equal to required refresher training.
Length of the courses varies and is dependent on aircraft type and under what TRTO approval certificate it is conducted.
